— ABOUT —

If you hear a voice within you say, 'You cannot paint,'then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.
—Vincent Van Gogh, Dutch Artist

Florida artist Stephanie Sodel has been visually impaired since birth. This has not stopped her from creating beautiful works of art. Originally from Connecticut, she has exhibited and sold her work throughout southern New England. After attending art school, she married and put her art career on hold to raise a family.

“ I sometimes feel that I see the world through different eyes, because of my low vision. I have tried almost every medium there is, but watercolor has become my soul mate for most of my career. I love it on it’s own merit, because of it’s spontaneity, and fluidity. I love combing pen and ink with the watercolor for a different effect.”

After moving to Florida in 2001, she settled in the Central Florida area, in Poinciana. She currently lives and teaches watercolor in Solivits, an active adult community. Her classes have been ongoing since 2002. She holds membership in the Solivita Artisans Guild, and The Florida Watercolor Society.
